We trawled the ferias in Recoleta, San Telmo, and La Bocca, and were surprised to find many unique handcrafted items amongst touristy trinkets.
In addition to the craft stalls at San Telmo and La Bocca, there were tango dancers, puppeteers, stilt walkers, musicians and other street performers on hand to entertain the crowds, as well as numerous cafes from which to enjoy them all.
We were amused to see the variety of ways in which tango could be used as a busking tool:
1. Couples would dance and then ask for donations
2. Non-dancing couples dressed in full tango regalia would obtain donations for posing with tourists.
3. Couples would dance with members of the public in return for donations.
